Upheaval
Wherein the Spirit of the Earth Mother Discovers the Truth Inside Us All
Joel Machak

How does Mother Nature feel about her work?
Can she find peace with acts of nature that bring so much destruction?
Come on an adventure of discovery and answers, as Upheaval takes us into the lives of Native Americans living in the shadow of an erupting volcano on the Arizona Plateau 950 years ago. Nokomis, the spirit of the Earth Mother, comes to Earth to live among human beings as a young woman. Her quest is to solve her greatest puzzle: why does mankind, alone among all of the creatures in her creation hold itself separate from the great oneness of nature.
Living among the Anasazi American Indians, she discovers the tangle of emotions that mark the human soul. She learns about envy, heartbreak and anger. She discovers the temptations of rage, desire and revenge. And she learns the costs of giving in to rash impulses.
Alone in her wilderness, she encounters a young man on a quest of his own: to fight a war of vengeance against the murdering attackers who destroyed his village. Seeing her chance at redemption in turning one human soul away from a path of destruction, she sets out to save him from his compulsion to violence.
Explore the depths of their troubled spirits, the beautiful and ever unfolding wonders of nature, and the multi-faceted mysteries of the human heart. Discover the tapestry of creation, destruction and renewal that is nature. And discover the redeeming power of second chances.
Come live among the grit and majesty of life in the red rock canyons of Arizona nearly a millennium ago. From the basic skills of starting a fire, to skinning a rabbit, to firing pottery, to decoding the messages of the animal spirits, here is life as it was in a time of great upheaval.
And here is a journey into the human heart, where Nokomis, the spirit of the Earth Mother, ultimately finds the answer she is looking for, as she unlocks the truth that is inside us all.
This is Upheaval. Come discover the truth that is inside you.
